Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the West School Age Immunisation Team as a Health Care Support Worker. The aim of the team will be to enhance the current School Nursing Service with the delivery of the current Immunisation Programme across Gwynedd and Anglesey. The objective is to promote and increase the uptake of immunisations in line with government targets; minimise the impact of the immunisation programme upon other core School Nursing Services, and ensure a seamless delivery of the programme demonstrating best practise and positive outcomes.

The role of the Health Care Support Worker will be to oversee and manage the clerical and administrative requirements associated with the programme, such as coordinating the dissemination of consent forms, monitoring and ordering of stock, assisting with the Immunisation Schedule. The post holder will work closely with the Community Staff Nurse and liaise with the wider School Nurse teams. They will support the delivery of the programme within the school setting. We are currently enhancing this role to include the introduction of some clinical duties with the relevant training.

Hours can be annualised and adapted throughout the school year to meet the needs of the service and immunisation delivery schedule. The base will be located at Bangor however there will be a need to travel and help out other areas of the West.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.
