An exciting opportunity to join the established and well regarded team on the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at Homerton Healthcare has arisen. As an experienced neurophysiotherapist you will bring your skills and experience to a team treating people with lifechanging, severe brain injuries.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy MDT working. Robust coping is essential and an empathic approach when working with families and patients is key to success in the role. The service is constantly working to improve itself and you will be part of service improvement projects. Well established supervision and regular CPD is encouraged in order to meet ongoing development needs.

Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

  • Assess and treat at a high level patients with profound and severe physical presentations, often complicated by behavioral, cognitive and communication impairments.
  • Work within an MDT to deliver excellence in rehabilitation and timely discharges.
  • Manage a key working role, operational and clinical supervision within the team and contribute to training.
  • Provide senior support to the physio and wider team.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of service improvement projects, either on your own or as part of a team.
  • Remain up to date with relevant policies, procedures, documentation and service level data requirements for level 1 rehabilitation.
  • Provide a learning environment for students and less experienced members of the team.

    Education / Qualification

    Essential criteria

  • Degree/diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Further post-graduate courses in related area
  • Desirable criteria

  • Masters in Neurology or Rehabilitation
  • Member of CIG
  • Skills / Abilities

    Essential criteria

  • Able to manage caseload and to prioritise under pressure for self and team.
  • Effective discharge planning skills.
  • To demonstrate effective communication skills with all disciplines to optimise patient management.
  • To demonstrate ability to communicate with patient and staff on complex and contentious issues
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Stroke /neuro -rehabilitation experience
  • Worked in a community setting
  • Knowledge

  • Knowledge/understanding of confidentiality issues
  • Current physiotherapy practice in the delivery of services to people following ABI and stroke.
