The Role

Here at Hamilton Specialist Referrals we are on the lookout for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for outstanding patient care to work as part of our Ward Nurse team. We are looking for someone who wants to take their nursing skills to the next level whilst working alongside our friendly and supportive referral team. The role will be based in our state-of-the-art kennels and cat wards nursing orthopaedic, neurological, soft tissue, oncology, and internal medicine patients. The role includes client communications as well as working across all our services, including the surgical team, to ensure high-quality care, recovering patients from anaesthesia, and nursing our inpatients.

Applicant Requirements

The successful candidate must have a love of working within an extremely varied and fast paced environment with a team of like-minded people. We are looking for someone who will not only go above and beyond for our patients, but for their colleagues too. Experience working in a referral hospital is beneficial but not essential as comprehensive training from our highly experienced team will be provided. Candidates must be qualified RVNs and will be proactive, enthusiastic, approachable, a great team player, able to use their own initiative and self-motivated. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task with a flexible approach to working are essential.

Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a state-of-the-art, specialist Veterinary Referral Hospital is based near the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. Originally orthopaedic and neurology-based, we now also offer services in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, oncology and cardiology.

HSR offers the most cutting-edge investigations and treatments, with both a 1.5 Tesla MRI and a CT-scanner on site; and all disciplines are supported by our team of Veterinary Interns and work closely with the in-house professional rehabilitation department.

All specialists are either European boarded or board-eligible, and all services are supported by three European boarded anaesthetists. We have an ECVN recognised residency programme in place and are in the process of gaining approval for an ECVS training programme.
