The Role

Here at Spring Lodge Vets, we are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the team.This position is for a fixed-term maternity cover to start as soon as possible, up until March 2023 with a possibility to extend. You will be part of a large team of 16 Nurses and 4 Veterinary Care Assistant’s within a first opinion hospital. The candidate will be based at our main hospital site in Witham, Essex but may also be required to cover shifts at our other 5 branches.

This position is 3 days per week on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Although for the right candidate this could be discussed further. The role is for 22 hours per week, with a rolling Saturday morning rota. Additional out-of-hours shifts are on a rota and voluntary basis amongst the 16 Nurses, and these shifts are either a Saturday or Sunday 8:00am-5:30pm with additional pay and an attractive bonus scheme. We have varied shifts ranging from a 7:30am start, to a 7:30pm finish. Clinical coach trained is preferred.

Salary up to £25,000 FTE depending on experience

About Us

We are a first opinion, small animal hospital based in Witham, Essex. We have 5 other supporting branches in Essex, 3 of which are stand-alone clinics that operate on-site. The other 2 branches are consulting only. These branches are based in Chelmsford, Beaulieu, Ingatestone, Tiptree, and Great Notley. Our Witham hospital proudly offers in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, laparoscopic surgery, ultrasonography, laser therapy, orthopaedic surgery and soft tissue surgery. We have been accredited a silver status cat-friendly clinic, and offer separate cat, dog and isolation ward.

The Witham hospital is located within a 5-minute walk from Witham train station, which has great links into the centre of London and surrounding areas.

Our great team consists of 9 full-time Veterinary Surgeons and 5 part-time Veterinary Surgeons, 12 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 7 Student Veterinary Nurses, 4 Veterinary Care Assistants and a large reception team. We have a certificate-holding Veterinary Surgeon who specialises in orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and complex soft tissue surgery. We also have a Veterinary Surgeon that specialises in cardiac ultrasounds.

We strongly encourage our team of Nurses to pursue any particular interests in certain areas of the practice and will certainly work to the strength of their abilities. We are a very friendly, close-knit team, and are often out socialising with one another and organising work gatherings (when Covid has allowed).

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who can be flexible and able to work the shifts required. Clinical coach training is preferred.
