We are now looking for a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) & Active Support (AS) Lead to work at a selected few services based in Haringey in North London and Stratford in East London.

This role is a full time role, Monday to Friday, and you will cover 4 days of your week in our services and the option to work from home for the rest of your time.

The role does not require the need to drive as you will be based in only the selected few services, however needs to be able to travel between those.

Our services require intensive Positive Behaviour Support, carrying out full functional assessment work, giving advice, training, support and practice leadership to staff teams ensuring that Avenues vision, values and operating principles are delivered at all times.

You will be supported by the PBS and AS Partner for the area, and receive case load supervision from the Senior PBS and AS Partner.

What are my key responsibilities?

  • Undertaking assessments, including functional assessments and providing guidelines and advice on supporting people with challenging behaviour.
  • Being responsive to service crisis and pro-active in supporting and coaching change.
  • Delivering training in positive behaviour support and person centred active support.
  • Design and use of behavioural measurement systems, measuring and tracking behavioural trends, analysis of data and writing reports.
  • Support the teams to improve quality of life of the people supported through goal setting with a particular focus on skills teaching
  • Advising on best practice and providing practice leadership and coaching to employees and managers, including providing direct support.
  • Liaising and working in partnership with other professionals and families of the people we support.
  • Maintaining relationships and liaising regularly with the Quality Assurance and Practice Department.

About YOU!

  • A level 5 qualification in Positive Behaviour Support and experience in supporting individuals with IDD who are at risk of displaying challenging behaviour.
  • Experience of person centred support planning and developing PBS interventions.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team; providing practice leadership.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively and maintain positive relationships at all levels within the organisation and with external agencies.
  • Ability to prioritise workload to ensure deadlines are met, with the ability to be self-motivated and undertake tasks unsupervised.
  • Ability to identify goals with people we support and create programmes to support successful achievement of these.
  • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.
